     Gonorrhoea- a veneral disease associated with gonococci microorganism named Neisseria

Gonorrhoea. It is commonly transmitted by bacteria sexual transmitted disease that can be contacted

 by male and female.

Any form of sexual transmitted disease are passed from one person to another during close intimacy.

I this infection is diagnosed earlier it can be managed and prevented. The following step should be

taking to eradicate gonorrhoea from the society:

Gonorrhea is a common disease that can be acquire through sexual intercourse,

 mouth, or anus. Any sexually active person can contact it through this means. We can have it through

 mother to child transfer during child delivery. It show its face in some men as sign or symptoms

 two to five days of infection but can also take as long as 30 days which include sensational burning

 when passing out urine or a white, yellow, or green discharge from penis. It may be a

 swollen testicles. Some have  no symptoms
 .
 For  some infected women there is no sign or symptoms  while its glaring in others. Those  woman
that has symptoms, can be  non-specific which may be easily mistaken as some

 vaginal or bladder infection

WHAT IT MEANS-GONORRHOEA

Definition

It is an acute veneral disease caused by a gonococci microorganism called Neisseria Gonorrhoeae.

Occurrence/Incidence:- It can affect both sexes but more severe in males than in females. New born

babies are not exempted.

Incubation Period:- Usually between 2 and 5 days but may be as long as 10-14 day

Mode of spread

⦁    Coitus

⦁    Child birth/Parturition causing opthalmia neonatorum

⦁    Rarely through formities

There are two types of gonorrhoea

⦁    Acute gonococci Infection

⦁    Chronic gonorrhoea

Acute infections- clinical manifestation

In men

⦁    Painful micturition

⦁    Urethral pain

⦁    Purulent discharge

In women

⦁    Urethra and Cervix become infected first

⦁    Produced purulent vagina discharge

⦁    Bartholiritis

⦁    Some women show no sign of infection

⦁    Pelvic pain

Clinical Features

⦁    Acute arteritis referred to as gonococci rheumatism

⦁    Iritis and Conjunctivitis

THE MANAGEMENT OF GONORRHOEA


Management

Acute gonorrhoea can be treated as outpatient placed on broad spectrum antibiotics with the calcium

 citrate. 1. Tugamycin 2. Injection Gentamycin 280mg/2mls 3. Tab Septrin500mg 8hrly 4. Mist

Potassium citrate 5. Analgesics

Chronic gonorrhoea

⦁    Admission

⦁    Isolation

⦁    Routine care

⦁    Copius fluid intake

Chemotherapy:- Appropriate antibiotics after medication. When there is structure, a type of surgery

known as Bougination is performed periodically. In acute urinary retention, supra-pubic cystostomy

 may be performed. 1. To drain the urine and to allow time for clearing the urethra.

Complications

In men

⦁    Urinary structure

⦁    Orchitis

⦁    Chronic prostatis

In women

⦁    Chronic inflammation of vagina, cervix and fallopian tube.

⦁    These are some of the reasons why some women suffer infertility

⦁    Bacteriological examination- through urine microscopy

⦁    High vagina swab or smear to find out the aetiological factor

⦁    Culture and Sensitivity for appropriate antibiotics
